Privacy Policy

Narratica is a product of Draconic Labs s.r.o. This Privacy Policy explains how Draconic Labs s.r.o. ("Draconic Labs", "we", "us", or "our") processes personal data when you visit our website, join the waitlist, create an account, or use the Narratica app.

1. Controller and Contact

The data controller for Narratica is Draconic Labs s.r.o., company ID / IČO 24909742, with its registered office at Piletická 486, 503 41 Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. You can contact us about privacy, data requests, or security at hello@narratica.ai or hello@draconiclabs.ai.

2. Data We Collect

We collect different kinds of data depending on how you use Narratica:

  • Waitlist and marketing: contact details you provide, information about your waitlist signup, and your email preferences. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
  • Account and authentication: information needed to create, verify, and protect your account, such as your email address, sign-in status, and authentication information. If you use Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, we receive the information needed to sign you in. Password credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication; we do not store or see your plaintext password.
  • Profile: public profile details you choose, such as a username or display name, and basic account status information.
  • Creative and story content: story material you create, save, publish, favorite, or use in Narratica, including text, images, worldbuilding details, and other creative elements.
  • Story interactions: messages, generated responses, and related story context needed to provide the interactive storytelling experience.
  • Story memory: technical representations of story text, such as embeddings, used to retrieve relevant memories and help longer stories stay coherent.
  • Uploaded media: images or other media you choose to upload or attach to Narratica content.
  • Technical and diagnostic data: information about your device, browser, network, app performance, crashes, and errors that helps us operate, secure, and debug Narratica.
  • Website analytics: information about visits, waitlist conversion, and campaigns if analytics tags are enabled.
  • Support communications: messages you send us and related follow-up history.

3. How We Use Data

We use data to:

  • Create and protect accounts, verify email addresses, reset passwords, and provide secure access to Narratica.
  • Store, sync, display, and publish the creative content you create in Narratica.
  • Generate AI story responses and help stories remain coherent over time, including by retrieving relevant parts of your story when needed.
  • Operate the waitlist and send confirmation, launch, account, support, and service-related emails.
  • Detect errors, prevent abuse, secure the service, and keep Narratica reliable.
  • Understand website and product usage in aggregate.
  • Respond to support, legal, privacy, or security requests.
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and protect users, Draconic Labs, and the service.

4. Legal Bases

Where GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract: we process data needed to provide Narratica, including accounts, app features, saved content, AI story generation, and support.
  • Consent: we rely on consent for optional marketing communications, non-essential cookies or tracking, and any optional data uses we present as consent-based.
  • Legitimate interests: we process data where needed to secure, debug, improve, and operate Narratica; prevent abuse; understand aggregate usage; and maintain service reliability.
  • Legal obligation: we process data where needed to keep records, respond to lawful requests, or comply with applicable law.

In practice, most account, saved content, and AI story generation data is processed because it is needed to provide the service. Security, abuse prevention, debugging, reliability, and aggregate usage analysis are usually processed based on legitimate interests. Marketing emails and non-essential analytics or tracking are processed based on consent where required.

5. AI Processing

Narratica is an AI storytelling product. When you play a story, we use AI services, including Google Vertex AI/Gemini, to generate story responses. We send the story information needed to produce a useful response, such as your latest message and relevant story context.

We also create technical representations of selected story text, sometimes called embeddings. These help Narratica retrieve relevant memories from your story. They are not displayed as normal story text, but they are derived from your story content.

Story content that you have not shared or published is processed to provide Narratica features and is not intended to be displayed to other users unless you choose to share or publish it through the service.

Narratica is designed for fictional storytelling. Please avoid entering real sensitive personal data, confidential information, or private information about other people in your story material or messages.

6. Visibility of Your Content

Drafts and story content that you have not shared or published are intended for you, invited story members where applicable, and Draconic Labs where needed to operate, secure, debug, support, or legally protect the service. Content you publish or share may be visible to other authenticated users.

If you publish or share creative content in Narratica, we may feature, display, reproduce, or promote that published or shared content in connection with Narratica, including on our website, app, social media, marketing materials, and other promotional channels. We will not use your private drafts or private story content for marketing without your permission.

Published content may be visible to other authenticated users while it remains published. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backup, or regulatory reasons. Deleting your account does not necessarily remove creative content that you previously chose to publish or share if that content has already been used, copied, referenced, or integrated into other users' stories or saved content. However, we will remove or anonymize your personal association with that content where reasonably possible.

Uploaded images may be accessible to other users when used in published content. If an image is served through a public storage URL, anyone with that URL may be able to view it. Do not upload images that contain private or sensitive information unless you intend them to be accessible in the relevant feature.

7. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

The Narratica website may use Google Tag Manager and analytics or marketing tags. These tools can use cookies or similar technologies to understand visits, conversions, and campaign performance.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and any cookie controls we provide. Essential technical storage may still be required for security, authentication, routing, or service operation. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential analytics or marketing cookies.

8. Processors and Third Parties

We use service providers that process data for the purposes described above, including:

  • Google Cloud, Firebase, and Vertex AI/Gemini: hosting, authentication, data storage, app services, logging, monitoring, diagnostics, and AI story generation.
  • Resend: waitlist, transactional, and marketing email.
  • Sentry: crash reporting, diagnostics, and app stability monitoring.
  • Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In: authentication when you choose those providers.
  • Google Tag Manager and analytics tags: website measurement and campaign attribution where enabled.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or reorganization.

9. International Transfers

Some providers or service configurations may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. For example, storage, AI, hosting, security, and operational services may be processed in the United States or other countries depending on provider settings and service configuration.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as data processing agreements, standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or equivalent transfer mechanisms provided by our processors.

10. Retention

We keep data for as long as needed to provide Narratica, operate the waitlist, maintain security, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. Account data, story content, uploaded media, and story memory data may remain until you delete them, ask us to delete them, or we remove them through operational cleanup. Some logs and backups may remain for limited operational periods after deletion from the live service.

  • Marketing waitlist data is kept until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or we no longer need it for launch and early-access communications.
  • Diagnostic logs and crash reports are generally kept for a limited operational period according to our provider settings, unless needed for security, debugging, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.
  • Account and story content is kept while your account is active, unless you delete specific content earlier or ask us to delete your account.

11. Account and Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your Narratica account in the app by going to Profile > Delete account. You can also request deletion outside the app by contacting us at hello@narratica.ai. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.

If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backup, or regulatory reasons. If deletion is not immediate, we will inform you about the expected timing and confirm once deletion is completed.

Deleting your account does not necessarily remove creative content that you previously chose to publish or share if that content has already been used, copied, referenced, or integrated into other users' stories or saved content. However, we will remove or anonymize your personal association with that content where reasonably possible.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, and especially if GDPR applies, you may have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your personal data is processed.
  • Access a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of personal data, as described in the Account and Data Deletion section above.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive data portability where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Object to direct marketing at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

We do not use automated decision-making to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you. Narratica uses AI to generate story content, not to make decisions about your rights or status.

13. Security

We use authentication, access controls, encryption in transit, secret management, monitoring, diagnostic tools, and provider security features to help protect the service. Please use a strong password, protect your sign-in providers, and avoid storing sensitive personal information in story content.

14. Children

Narratica is not intended for children under 16. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use Narratica, unless a different minimum age applies in your country and you have any required parent or legal guardian consent. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Narratica changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, for example through the website, app, or email.
