Your first story

Your first story is four steps away, and they take about a minute together.

1. Open Discover

Discover is the compass at the bottom of the screen, and it has two tabs, Worlds and Scenarios. A world is a place, and a scenario is a moment in it that you can press Play on.

There are two ways to the same place, and it does not matter which you take. On the Scenarios tab you scroll through every public scenario, and on the Worlds tab you open a world first and pick from the scenarios inside it. Either way, read the line under each title, because that single line is the whole pitch: a government envelope on the kitchen table, a drive shaft that is warm when it should not be. Pick one that sounds like a story you want to be in, then press Play on its page.

If you pressed Play on a world's page instead, the app first asks Choose a scenario: swipe to the one you want and press Select. From a scenario's page this screen is skipped, because the choice is already made.

3. Pick who you are

Choose a protagonist lists the characters you are allowed to play, and you swipe to one and press Select. Then the app shows Your story is ready, with the world, the scenario and who you are walking in as, and Begin adventure starts the story. See more on the page Choosing a persona.

4. Write something

The story opens with the scenario's prologue, and if the scenario has an opening character, they speak next, so it is your turn only after someone has spoken to you. Write what your character does, in your own words, as a sentence rather than a command or a menu pick, or tap one of the three suggested replies under the message to put it in the box.

The story is now running, and it saves as you go, so you can leave mid-scene and come back to it later.
